Evening job offers that ask for money

Longer note · updated October 2026

Offers of easy evening or part-time work are a common route for fraud. The wording changes, but the turn is almost always the same: you're asked to send money.

What the turn looks like

  • Registration fees. Paid before you can start.
  • Kits. Equipment or stock you must buy from them.
  • Deposits. Balances to top up before tasks or earnings unlock.
  • Forwarding money. Receiving payments and sending them on. This can involve you in a crime.

Signs before the turn

Unrequested messages, very high pay for simple evening tasks, contact only through private apps, and pressure to decide today.

What to do

Don't pay or forward anything. Stop replying and report the account. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away and report it to the police or your country's fraud reporting service.
